Dean E. McCarty, president of McCarty Consulting Group, Inc., dba McCarty Group, is a Certified Construction Specifier with over 23 years experience in the architectural industry. Mr. McCarty established McCarty Consulting Services, Inc. in 1997 after seeing a need in the design community to provide assistance in preparing quality construction specifications.
In early 2005, Mr. McCarty changed the name of the company to McCarty Group. The name change coincided with a tremendous growth for the company and a milestone of five years of full time consulting. The name McCarty Group also recognizes the company's associates that have helped make this growth and endurance possible; something the original company name could not do.
Mr. McCarty’s technical background has given him excellent experience with a variety of project types, a comprehensive understanding of the construction documentation process, contract administration practices, building inspections, and the ability to efficiently research and specify building products for the design project at hand.
As the sole specifier for the A/E division of a national food retailer, Mr. McCarty overhauled and maintained the division's master specification system. He was also influential in bringing into alignment the division's engineering specifications and procurement contracts used by the division's purchasing team. After then moving to another of the country’s top-rated A/E firms, he gained invaluable experience in the specification writing discipline as a member of a specification department that included two nationally known, highly respected specification colleagues.
McCarty Group was also founded to work with the building product manufacturing community. Mr. McCarty has worked with national and international manufacturers and product representatives to develop product guide specifications.

Active membership in the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and Specification Consultants in Independent Practice (SCIP), has been influential in developing Mr. McCarty’s passion for the specification and contract document processes. His years of involvement with different A/E firms, manufacturers and product representatives, and the contracting community, has provided him the experience to work effectively and positively with the various team members that make up the construction community.
